Korean melons at Kim's Asian Market

When I buy a melon, I start with my eyes closed. Fingertips over the skin, listening for a hint of seeping sugar. Not soft and mushy, not even so far as call to it sticky, just a wee bit of glow, there on your skin.

Then I raise the melon up and inch or two from my face. A ripe melon will hit you before you have a chance to whiff, but I whiff anyway. Wait for the thick sweetness to open the top of my throat.

I held up a Korean melon in the market the other day. Glow, glow. Whiff, whiff. Like a light honeydew with maybe a little Crenshaw intensity thrown in at the end. Lovely.

Your photos are gorgeous! I have never heard of a Korean melon before, but now I am curious.

Hi!
I was wondering where you buy the korean melons. I live in North Carolina and I was wondering if anything is near me. Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't know North Carolina at all. But if there is an Asian market near you, I would start there.

Hello! Great photos and stories.
I love Korean melons, but haven't yet found them here in Montreal. They were the first new food I fell in love with when I moved to Seoul for a spell four years ago. I bought a three-pack of them only hours after getting off the plane. Yum!
