Here is the post I was working on before my grandmother got sick. I realize it is a bit out of season now, but, hey, it is still summer. And I had fun taking these pictures. And, anyway, here you go.
My mom has some friends who have a beautiful country place outside of Scotia. Every now and again I manage to wrangle an invitation to one of their potlucks. Here is a bit of the best from David and Brigham's. (More on these wonderful guys in an essay soon to come.)
Grilled sausages from Rolf's Pork Store in Albany.

This was one of my favorite things there. I have to get the recipe.

Here was my contribution. As you all know, I've been frying a lot of eggplant lately.

One woman brought this as a gift to the hosts.

The berries were from the bushes on the property. This is one of the only pictures I could get before these beauties ended up smeared all over my daughters' faces.

I'd very much like you to join the conversation. The only rule: treat everyone else in the conversation with kindness and respect. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks!

Oh, a BBQ potluck! That might be the Alpha and Omega of potluckery!

I remember you wrote about Dines Farms products. Here's an interesting update on them: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/30/dining/30dines.html?_r=1&ref=dining&oref=slogin

You wouldn't happen to be talking about Brigham Taylor, would you?

I'm not sure of his last name, which is a little silly when you think about it. I'll check.

I just wondered because Brigham Taylor was one of my absolute favorite professors in college and I remember him living somewhere near Scotia. I've run to him at the Spectrum, MAD, and numerous other places in the past year with his partner, whom I'm pretty sure is named David.

Here's a great article on potluck with a fabulous recipe for grilled pork tenderloin that I've made twice this summer to raves from all.
