hotdog from Dines

Dines Farms' natural meat store in Albany = Really good hot dogs

There is a retail store for natural meats in Albany. You can find it in the left corner entrance of The Warehouse on Learned St.

That is easier said that done. The Warehouse is the small but growing indoor farmers market/architectual salvage/arts and crafts venture that has sprung up off Broadway in downtown Albany. Oh, yeah, there is also a dance studio that has club salsa lessons and yoga classes. To get there head out of downtown on Broadway toward the Miss Albany Diner. Make a right on the street before the diner (if you get to Miss Albany, you've gone too far). Then make your first left onto Learned St. The Warehouse is just ahead on your left.

The main action is on the weekends when the farmers market is going.

Sat. 9 - 2 p.m.
Sunday 10 - 2 p.m.

There are outlets for Cascade Winery, speciality pickles, meats by Dines Farms, baked goods and other vendors. For kids, there is face painting, music, a gently used children's book shop and a floor space where they can do chalk drawings.

I haven't been on the weekend yet. I hope to go this Saturday and take some pictures to put up. I did get a chance to stop by and check out the meat store. You can buy a wide selection of natural meats. Beef, chicken, turkey, rabbit, duck, lamb and pork. If you want to make sure they have your cut in stock, call ahead or email.

The meat store also has a small cafe menu with burgers, roast beef, hot dogs and fried chicken. I sampled the hot dog and ended buying a big pack of them to take home. The hot dogs are delicious with a bit of a snap when you bite and burst of juice and flavor inside.

I am sorry that I don't have the hours for the meat store, although I believe they are open daily. I will post them as soon as I get them.

OK, quick update folks. For the moment, the Dines Farms' retail store hours are:

Closed Monday and Tuesday
Wed- Friday: 11- 1 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 10 - 2 p.m.
